Road not taken...

Unfortunately with the number of roads I have been taking lately...most of which lead out of town, my impromptu traveling has left me unprepared and as a result, I've missed a few workouts...just when I was trying to catch up. I want to make up these workouts without hurting myself so I had to spread them out some but by my calculations, I should make up all of my workouts while staying as true to my schedule as possible by the 14th of July. I know that sounds a ways away but it's important to me to cross off every single workout on my calendar so I'm going to do this! The plan I just created is below along with the list of workouts I have missed so far so you can check with me that I'm covering everything. I'll write more later this weekend but I wanted to get this up!

Monday Accountability: Marine Corps Marathon Training Week 3

Ugh...I have not been looking forward to writing this blog since I woke up this morning but I need to be honest with myself and that in part means not hiding from writing these posts on Mondays.

Last week

This was the week of the month where I'm tired and could sleep 18 hours a day (yes, this happens once a month). I was able to get in about half my workouts and my diet stayed somewhat in tact but I could definitely do better...which I was going to do this weekend while catching up on sleep and workouts.

I was quickly reminded on Saturday that there are some things in life more important than counting calories, tracking workouts, and logging miles. I'm not saying I ever really lose sight of this but there are times when I become so absorbed, so devoted to a plan - like this marathon training plan - that I put everything else aside to make it happen. I was doing that for the past couple weeks until Saturday. I was cleaning my apartment (because a messy apartment leaves me stressed and unfocused and my goal was to get that done this weekend...a nice organizing deep clean) when I got an update about a family member that had me dropping everything and driving to Wisconsin. A five hour drive is nothing when you consider it means being there with your family through a difficult time. I am glad to say that my aunt is doing much better and looks to be out of the worst of her post-major-heart-surgery journey and I am very glad I was able to go up and help take care of her. I spent Sunday with my sister taking care of my cousin's kids (so he could be with his mom) which we did by getting them out of the hospital and taking them to the zoo for the day. Distraction was the name of the game considering their grandma was in the ICU and they didn't get to see her at all.

I'm glad I took the time to both listen to my body and spend time with my family this week but that does mean I have some catching up to do. Today is about recovering in terms of sleep and then the rest of this week will be getting in those missed workouts and paying attention to my nutrition.

Current / Goal Stats:

Weight: 159 / goal is to be under 150
Body Fat:  26.8% / want to be around 22%

Nutrition Plan:

Using my calories burned information from last week, a target of an average 300 calories / day deficit, and a 65/25/10% carbs/protein/fat breakdown of my calories, my daily goals are:

Total calories: 1674- 2024
Carbs (g): 272-329
Protein (g): 105-127
Fat (g): 17-23

Workout Plan:

I'll be sticking mostly with the plan I posted here: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B_SDKxVAXee6ZmNmZDBlMjktNTQyZi00MTZlLWI2YTQtZTlhMTllZjllNDY3&hl=en_US but I need to fit in the missed workouts so here's the plan to do so:

Monday: Work and sleep. That's the plan for today. I'm behind on sleep given my weekend and I know I need rest to effectively workout. I'm making one drive thru drugstore stop on my way home and then it's to bed with me.

Tuesday:
Morning: (workout from the 17th) 40 min EZ run and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 3
Evening: (scheduled workout) 45 minutes of cross training (probably TurboFire) and push ups and pull ups to fatigue

Wednesday:
Morning: (scheduled workout) 40-60 minutes of speed work - tempo runs, fartleks and strides - and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 2
Evening: (workout from the 18th) 60 minutes at marathon pace and push ups and pull ups to fatigue

Thursday:
Morning: (workout from the 20th) 30 minute EZ run and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1
Evening: (workout from the evening of the 16th) 40-60 minutes of speedwork

Friday:
Back to the normal schedule!
30 minute EZ run and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 3

Saturday: 6 miles at marathon pace and push ups to fatigue (I'll be in Ann Arbor with my sister so I won't have my pull up bar...hmmm maybe I'll pack it with me!)
Super Saturday event in Toledo! I am so looking forward to this post-Summit meet up and hopefully tasting the NEW Shakeology flavor! Tropical! (look for more info on this later!)

Sunday: A much needed day of rest!!

To keep up with this very packed schedule, my preworkout and recovery drinks will be crucial. I'll do recovery drinks after strength and speed training and on days I'm doing both, I'll split the drink between the workouts. I'll also need to keep drinking my water and sleeping plenty to make sure that I give my body the recovery it needs! This is do-able for a week but DEFINITELY NOT SOMETHING I RECOMMEND FOR A NORMAL PLAN. Yes - it's that important I felt I needed the caps lock button there. This is not a good "usual" plan...solely using this for catch-up and I'll be back on track next week. I'll be sure to be as efficient as possible with my time this week...I need to be!

Monday Accountability - Week 4

I'm starting to feel really good about myself for sticking with this. Each week I get better about sticking to my plan, eating better, and staying on track. I had a rushed morning this morning though so I forgot to weigh in and check body fat...I'll do that tomorrow.

There were a couple changes to the plan from last week...most noteably:

- didn't get in my Thursday TurboFire workout
- added wall sits and sit ups to my Saturday workout (thank you Nate!)
- did a 1.5 mile run, negative pull ups to fatigue and push ups to fatigue (again, thank you Nate!) instead of my scheduled workouts Sunday; I'll do those today on what would normally be an off day.

Current / Goal Stats:

Weight: I'll check tomorrow...sorry! / goal is under 150 but more focused on...
Body Fat: again...I'll check tomorrow! / goal is under 22%

Nutrition Plan:
1500-1750 calories each day - I've been doing pretty well so far but I can always do better!

Workout Plan:
Monday (Day 7)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn It Off + Recharge
TurboFire HIIT 20 + Stretch 10

Tuesday (Day 8)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1
TurboFire HIIT 15 + Sculpt 30

Wednesday (Day 9)
ChaLEAN Extreme Scheduled Rest Day
TurboFire Fire 55 EZ

Thursday (Day 10)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 2
TurboFire Core 20 + Stretch 40

Friday (Day 11)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Intervals + Ab Burner
TurboFire Fire 45 + Stretch 10

Saturday (Day 12)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 3
TurboFire Fire 45 + Stretch 10

Sunday (Day 13)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn it off + Recharge
TurboFire HIIT 25 + Stretch 10

And for a picture of the week: my progress so far! I keep track of my workouts in WOWY and I have the ChaLEAN Extreme program set as my auto schedule workout. The planned workouts are the little green lines and when I complete them, they turn blue. I took this screen shot on Saturday...so proud of being on track (even if it is just 4 days) so far this month! Make sure I keep posting these. I want a ton of blue lines!!

Monday Accountability: Week 3

Good morning everyone! Last week I did alright on my plan but I'm still frustrated with my results. Luckily, this weekend I was able to spend time with my dear friends, Jaime and Jason ...during which time Jaime and I  (with Jason's input!) talked about the frustrations we're both having with these plateaus we seem to have hit at the same time. I can't seem to break this 26.1% body fat / 150-155 lb level...I want to be leaner!

As with any workout program and nutrition plan, your body WILL adjust. You will hit plateaus and just because something worked in the past does not mean it will ALWAYS work and you need to mix it up from time to time....which is why she helped me create a new plan.

I need to do more resistance training and I need to start fresh. That is why today and tomorrow I will be doing a Shakeology cleanse (I would normally do 3 days but with my visit with Jaime and Jason and my travel plans this week that isn't possible this time) and tonight I'll be starting a new workout program help me break through! Instead of doing the TurboFire / ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid schedule, I'm going to do both programs in parallel starting such that my scheduled off day is Monday. As Jason and I talked, he suggested that I think about which program I believe will most help me achieve my goals and make that one the non-negotiable workout. This is what I love about the coaches with whom I surround myself - they respect that we have lives outside of fitness and are real about those implications. This doesn't mean that we use life as an excuse to miss workouts - NO EXCUSES! But it does mean that we are real about the fact that sometimes things happen and especially when you have two-a-days planned, things may happen that impede your ability to fulfill every piece of your plan. His suggestion was that I know and commit to one program as my primary so that when life does make it more difficult, I can be ok with just doing that one program on a particular day. Again, this doesn't mean I can make excuses to only do one but does mean that when life absolutely gets in the way, I will do my primary workout and move on. After thinking about his advice (and knowing that especially with my OCD tendencies, I need to do this) I've decided ChaLEAN Extreme is my primary plan. If my goal is to cut fat, I need to build and tone muscle and that's exactly what ChaLEAN Extreme is designed to do. That in mind, I'll be doing that set of workouts in the morning so I know that I won't miss them later in the day!

Current / Goal Stats:
Weight: 160 / goal is under 150 but more focused on...
Body Fat: 26.1% / goal is under 22%

Nutrition Plan:
Shakeology cleanse Monday and Tuesday
1500-1750 calories each day - I've been doing pretty well so far but I can always do better!

Workout Plan:
Monday (Day 0)
ChaLEAN Extreme Scheduled Rest Day
TurboFire Off Day
Tuesday (Day 1)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1
TurboFire Fire 30 + Stretch 10

Wednesday (Day 2)
ChaLEAN Extreme Scheduled Rest Day
TurboFire Fire 55 EZ

Thursday (Day 3)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 2 (with resistance bands as I'll be on the road
TurboFire Fire 30 + Stretch 10

Friday (Day 4)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Intervals + Ab Burner
TurboFire Core 20 + Stretch 40

Saturday (Day 5)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 3
TurboFire Fire 45 + Stretch 10 (or whatever workout Nate and I do....)

Sunday (Day 6)
ChaLEAN Extreme Burn it off + Recharge
TurboFire HIIT 20 + Stretch 10 (I'll probably actually do this workout first...maybe with Nate?...so I can put max effort into my HIITs)

Me and Jaime after our TurboKick workout with Angie. Burned over 800 calories!!!!

Monday Accountability: Week 2

I'm excited to post this, not because I did perfectly last week but because I still feel good about how I did and even though I didn't weigh in or measure this morning, I feel I'm making progress! (Any of my fellow ladies out there can appreciate that there are just some weeks you know that you shouldn't weigh in...right??)

Last week:

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I was going to get in 2 workouts each day and it didn't happen. No excuses but I will say that thanks to the nature of my visit, I still met my calorie burn targets each day and ate very well. Friday I cut the stretching a little short but definitely did a hard core workout. Saturday went as planned but I missed my official workout Sunday. Still no excuses but I still hit my calorie burn target thanks to running around with my 4 year old Goddaughter. Highlight of the week had to be my Turbo class with amazing friends on Saturday! I've posted a couple pictures at the end of this blog so be sure to scroll down!

Onto week 4 of the TurboFire / ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid!

Current / Goal Stats:
Weight: didn't weigh in / goal is under 150 but more focused on...

Body Fat: didn't measure / goal is under 22%

On the road and still on track!

Just in case you missed my video on Wednesday night, I just wanted to reinforce that being on the road doesn't mean that you have to get off track. A couple tips I also point out in the video...

- If you can, book a suite. I was able to find a 1 bedroom suite for only $10 more than the cheapest hotel in the area in which I was staying. It's worth it for the extra room that affords me...not to mention the DVD player so I had my TurboFire and ChaLEAN Extreme on a regular screen instead of just my laptop.

- Yes weights are hard to pack but that doesn't mean that you have to skip your strength training. Resistance bands are a great way to make sure that you can do strength training but they're easy and light to pack. Same for toning bands.

- Not sure you'll have a laptop or DVD player? Make sure you're in a hotel with a workout room or a pool. I find I have less bulk to pack when I stick with a pool or in-room workout (no workout shoes to worry about!) but do what you know works best for you.

Enjoy!

TurboFire Inferno - Wrap up and the after picture!

Alright so the end of last week got crazy busy - I apologize for not posting this sooner!

The TurboFire Inferno was awesome last week! I felt great (still feel great) and all the recipes were delicious! I even had a friend over for dinner mid week and she was game for sticking to the meal plan with me so we enjoyed an awesome salmon dinner together! I love sharing my healthy habits with those I love!

Everyone's questions to me while I was on this plan was "so what are you going to eat? Well here it is..I took pictures when I remembered or it didn't smell so good that I ate it right away. I wasn't super rigid about the meal plan but stuck to the calories and clean eating to make sure I was still successful.

Turkey avocado wrap...mmmmmmm

The dinner my friend and I enjoyed - teriyaki salmon, ginger rice, bok choy - delish and can't wait to make it again!

Old school snack favorite - "ants on a log" :-)

Egg salad wrap with avocado and tomatos
So as you can hopefully see - healthy is yummy! I loved all the food and will definitely be adding these into my regular meal plans.

The workouts were tough...very tough. I sweat a lot, got my butt kicked but I felt so energized. I burned at least 500 calories with each workout and definitely felt buzzed the rest of the day. Better than all of that though I felt proud of myself, ya know? Proud of going after what I wanted to achieve and knowing that I was going to ROCK that bridesmaid dress - which i did.

So now the main reason I wrote this blog - to show off! Here's the before picture again:

Before - 153 lbs.

After - 150 and an inch off my waist and hips. Felt better about my abs and the little side "bulges" too

The main rason for all of this of course was the dress. Yay! Now I took a pic but it's not a great pic thanks to the lighting. I'll post better pictures if / as I get them but in the meantime I hope you can tell I felt great and was super confident in this dress all day. I danced the night away, had a great time and felt like myself for the first time in a while - amazing what the right workout can help you achieve!

Mid workout - Day 2 of the Inferno

From my TurboFire Inferno week...yeah...Chalene wore me out and whipped me into shape!

Turbo Fire Inferno Day 1

So here we go! TurboFire 5 Day Inferno ... Day 1!

I have a wedding in which I'm a bridesmaid and I want to ROCK my dress. I know that I'm already looking pretty good - with the workouts and healthy eating I've maintained around the 150 mark so I'm very happy about that. However a little extra toning and leaning is always good, right?

The 5 Day Inferno is designed to get you "hot for the weekend" so that's what I'm going to do. There's a diet plan laid out which I'm following .... mostly. I'm using the calorie guidelines and making sure that I hit the protein and carb requirements but especially today (since I haven't gone grocery shopping...I hate grocery shopping) I've gone more the "hit the ranges" route.

I'm so confident in this program I'm going to post the before picture BEFORE I have an after picture.

Before Measurements:
Chest: 38.25"
R. Arm: 11"
L. Arm: 11"
Waist: 31 "
Hips: 39"
R. Thigh: 23.125"
L. Thigh: 23.25"
Body Fat: 27%

Weight: 153 lbs.

5K and confidence

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Some of you may remember I was going to run a 5K at my old high school this weekend. I was looking forward to seeing some people I haven't seen in a long time, running well, and dominating my old high school course.

Almost none of that happened. I saw a couple friends from high school cross country but unfortunately it was after I ran a miserable race. I could blame the humidity and heat (which I do...partly) but mostly I was unprepared for a run with hills and weather. In the end though I had a good time and still managed to medal (despite my 31+ minute race time...ick) and it was good to spend the time with my mom and sister. What was really fun was how muddy The Swamp was. Our course has always been known for being tough and that included the shoe-stealing swamp. It was good and muddy as evident by my running shoes...these were WHITE at the start of my race:

ddy muddy race shoes....
Post race - by my locker with my medal...and of course, turbo girl pose :)

Despite the terrible race time - my PR is 23:56 for a 5K - I had a good time and now have a goal to do better at this race in particular next year.

Yesterday was a far more fun day though. It started with TurboFire Fire 45 which I KILLED! I set a new personal best and peaked at 10.3 calories / minute at one point during my workout. Crushed over 400 calories yesterday morning before 6 am. Not bad if I may say so myself. With that high I started getting ready for work and the great day just kept going....

I had found this awesome bright yellow dress at Marshall's earlier this year and couldn't wait to wear it. I was able to buy it in a size 8!! and have been nervous about the fit for weeks. Finally yesterday I decided I needed a bright fun outfit and was confident enough to wear it to work. I was flattered all day by coworkers' and friends' compliments (thank you to my Facebook friends who wanted to see and then seemingly adored the picture) so its a new favorite outfit.I felt great. I love how the success I've had on my wellness journey has fed my confidence so much and I'm sure that my elevated confidence helps me in so many other areas of my life.

So that's it. Today's a new day and I'm going to get two birds with one stone tonight - going to see how much I can blow up my bodybugg with cleaning the apartment tonight. I need a clean apartment to think straight and I haven't gotten as much done as I'd like lately! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

TurboFire - what's in the box?

Ok I promised this entry AGES ago...about time I finally posted it, huh? My TurboFire arrived in an amazing, wonderful box...it was like Christmas! Some of you might remember my very excited posting of its arrival...

So why was I so excited? Inside I found....

- Fuel the Fire: The most awesome nutrition guide. Not a meal plan as much as awesome recipe ideas and gorgeous pictures to guide you through. Definitely an awesome addition to ANY workout plan...not just TurboFire.

- Guide thru TurboFire: what it is, how it works, the music, the workouts and notes from Chalene

- Class Schedule: I keep mine on the fridge. It keeps me on track and its great to see what's next and what workout I should do today especially mornings when I don't have time to log in and check my Beachbody profile (www.teambeachbody.com/gabriellah99)

- The 5 Day Inferno Plan: 5 days to get my weekend body. Its a full meal / workout plan that has shown to have amazing results. I think I'm going to do it in November. Stay tuned!

- Get Fired Up DVD: A message from Chalene to get you fired up about the program. It's an intense program - every little piece of motivation helps and Chalene is an amazing motivator!

- 11 DVDs of workouts!!! Love the fact that typically a day's workout will only call for 1 CD. The Stretch 10 which typically follows a workout is repeated on each DVD so you don't have to mess with it mid-workout.

- Lower body band perfect for some of the exercises and a tape measure to track your progress.

Also included is the P90X results and recovery formula. I normally don't like drinks like that but this one is YUMMY! Just a note: you get all of these things if you order the complete system. There is a basic that has most but not all of this and also an add-on in case you order the basic and that's just not enough :-) I'd also recommend some resistance bands and handles for the strength training classes.

I love this workout. Love love love this workout :-) Granted tonight I'm going for a run since I'm running a 5K on Saturday but I'll do a TurboFire workout tomorrow again to get my fix.

Let me know if this piques your interest - I love sharing my addictions! What's your favorite workout of all time?

Head over to http://tiny.cc/CoachG for this and more awesome programs.

My Summer Vacation - Harrison Family Camping 2010

Just a side note: none of these photos have been post processed...what you see is what I saw exactly. I'm not a pro by any means but I love trying!

Ok so as promised, a multimedia extravaganza. The only sense you'll deprive with this is smell I think.

The Harrison family is known for a couple things. Being a family of (mostly) engineers, we're a solid group of dorks and we love it...so what better way to start out a family vacation than....

Yup...Star Wars...In Concert. Really? You want to try to find a combination I'd geek out about more than symphony and Star Wars? Ok well we found one in my dessert. I read the description and I had to have it...whiskey, chocolate and cake. Pair that with my cappuccino and I was a happy happy girl (in desperate need of her TurboFire or a run...)

From Star Wars In Concert!
Heaven on a plate...seriously...

For those who don't know, I'm a marching band dork. Not just a dork...I was the drum major (conductor for the non bandos out there) in high school and marched in the Michigan Marching Band. As soon as I saw this score, I had to send it to my bff Christen as she was a drum major too. We were the rockstar DMs of the tri county area...we would have LOVED conducting this...
From Star Wars In Concert!

And then because I've developed a slight obsession with Chewbacca, I had to take a picture with him!
From Star Wars In Concert!

From there we headed up to our campsite where we ran into the second thing for which the Harrison family is known: bringing a thunderstorm to any campsite. Not kidding, a few years ago we ended a 3 month drought in Indiana by going camping. Rained for 3 days straight and it was the first trip which we almost left camp for 4 solid walls and a dry bed...but we toughed it out. ANYWAY...back to 2010. We're driving up, lil sis (referenced throughout this blog as Stinker) is riding with me and we're watching this **spectacular** lightening show in our path...before we realize that's right over camp. I hand her my phone, direct her to my weather app and the entire radar map for the Ludington and surrounding area is red. Not good. I slept in the car because I didn't want my sleeping bag to get soaked between my car and the tent...and something about all that lightening didn't seem fun either. Regardless, we survived another "character building experience" as Daddy has labeled them.

Dry off, clean up, and back into the cars to meet some friends at their sailboat they had docked up this way for the summer. Stinker is into boats like I am cars so she was thrilled when Captain allowed her to take over the helm. She did great!

I was trying not to get seasick (fail) and tried to focus on taking some good pictures...only got a couple.

The next day I got up determined to finally get that run...and run I did. I felt great and really enjoyed the serenity and calm of the sunrise in Northern Michigan. G-o-r-g-e-o-u-s.

I got back from my run and joined the family on our bikes for a ride out to the same lighthouse to which I almost ran less than an hour before...more exercise with the family! Yay! I love seeing my family active. This time I had my camera and caught some fun shots...we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! Here are my favorite shots.

Back to camp with us to get cleaned up and head out to a family tradition, Mac Woods Dune Rides. Seriously a blast. If you've never been out on the dunes like this, I highly recommend it. Great view of the lake too as you can see in the video :-)

To make things even cooler, we were in an International truck! For those who don't know, I work for Navistar, the holding company of International Truck. We no longer make this model so it was cool to ride in a piece of my company's history. Of course a photo shoot was in order!

In the garage was one of the older models and I love this grille...

One more night of enjoying the campsite...love campfires :-)

All too soon it was time to head back. Mom and I had a banquet Sunday so we drove back Saturday afternoon. I had a cute chipmunk buddy while I was loading the car...the camera was already packed though so I had to "shoot" him with my phone...can you find him?

Lil Silver Surfer did a great job...Mom and I took back a LOT of stuff...

So that was the trip. Lots of fun, good times, great family memories, loved getting "away from it all" for sure...and with our family, its always an adventure!

Dedication!

So I'm back from the family camping trip and I had a blast. Can't wait to put together the multimedia extravaganza which will be my "What I did on Summer Vacation" entry here probably this weekend. Pictures and vids and fun - oh my! I also owe all of you a few other blogs on what is in the TurboFire box, how my first couple TurboFire workouts have gone (video form!), and how instructor training went! I have videos from all through that day too!

For now though you'll have to settle for a quick update from work. Keep your eye out though for these fun ones! Yesterday was a long day. I did ok on eating but not great. After leaving work at 7:30 (yeah...late night) I went to meet some friends for a quick drink. I was good and only had one drink but stayed and drank waters while laughing and having a good time until about 11 last night. You're right...I haven't mentioned having done a workout yet. Yesterday was to be the start of week 3 of TurboFire so I needed to make sure that happened! I left the group feeling tired but looking forward to my workout. It wasn't the hardest I've ever worked out but I can honestly say it was mostly because this was a new routing for me and I didn't know all the moves. I was thrilled though that the "sneak peak" of TurboFire that Jenelle threw in our visit to Toledo was in yesterday's workout - LOVE the shoulder dusts and fun dance moves. Maybe once I get good at it, I'll set up the tripod and tape that portion of the workout for you all to enjoy! Anyway.... I did the workout. It felt great and despite being exhausted tonight, I have low key (read: NO!) plans for tonight so I'll do my quick HIIT workout and clean up my apartment so I feel more "put together". Getting my apartment cleaned never fails to make me feel more motivated. My goal is to get the apartment more than mostly cleaned by the weekend so I can focus on practicing Round 41 to prep for teaching, taking care of finances and working on some Beachbody stuff. Should be a good time.

The point of this little ramble? I know we're all always busy. There's always something going on. We don't want to miss out on a chance to participate in professional organizations, social outings, fun times...but we know that working out and taking care of ourselves has to be a priority. I'd rather be able to wake up early in the morning, get my workout done and enjoy the day but let's be real. I'm not a morning person. I try. I know how GREAT I feel all day knowing that I have my workout done. But that doesn't always mean that the morning workout is going to happen. Sometimes it means staying up late or moving other things around but we can make it happen. Don't allow yourself to make excuses. We're all tired at the end of the day. We're all busy. We're all everything that could keep us from going after healthy habits. Our success is defined by the number of times we go after those habits anyway and don't let the potential excuses hold us back.

Pictures of the progress - Turbo Jam version

Ok I promised before and after pictures and here they are. I have to say though...given that we've already determined that my body didn't give up any body fat to Turbo Jam, I knew these pictures weren't going to show a major difference...But here they are anyway showing the little bit of change. Can't wait for my TurboFire afters!!! :-)

TurboFire Day 1!!! Oh and my TurboJam wrap up!

OOOOOOOOOOOMG! TurboFire was everything I'd hoped....and more. Ok I know I know. I owe you a Turbo Jam wrap up but hear me out..literally...check out the vid below. But you have to read through the wrap up first.

Ok so those of you following along already know that my last week of Jam didn't go quite as I'd hoped. I was going to get in a full week and wear my bodybugg all week but I came home sick two days of my last planned week...needless to say, I couldn't workout. Never fear! I have enough data to wrap it up and move forward! According to my trusty bodybugg I burn about 2000 calories on the days I workout and that's with an average of a 30 minute Turbo Jam workout. We'll keep that and compare to TurboFire data which I'll collect next week - once I get a hang of the workouts and can give you a real measure! For the rest:

All are listed with before/after:
Weight: 157 lbs / 152 lbs
Body Fat: 27% / 27%
Waist: 30.375" / 30.25"
Hips: 39.5" / 39.0"
Thighs: 23.75" / 23"
Chest: 40" / 39.5"
Upper Arm: 11.375" / 11.125"

(total of 3.25" loss)

So overall not a huge change this time around. Now those of you reading, please don't think it doesn't work. The first time I did before and after measurements, in a month of Turbo Jam I saw this:

Weight: 161.2 lbs / 157 lbs
Body Fat: (didn't have calipers at before...sorry!)
Waist: 32" / 29"
Hips: 39.5" / 38"
Thighs: 23.5" / 22.5"
Chest: 38.5" / 37.5"
Upper Arm: 11.5" / 10.5"
....and I went from a size 10 to an 8 or 6. (total of a 9.5" loss!)

My guess is my body has gotten used to Turbo Jam. Its great for me now for maintenance but my body is at a new level and TurboFire couldn't have come at a better time. I'll do after pictures tomorrow morning!

Now to the TurboFire. I can't tell you how good it felt. Well actually I can! Video time! Hope you enjoyed the update! So pumped to do tomorrow's workout! Will you be joining me? :-)

Catching up!

Happy 4th everyone!! on 12seconds.tv

I can't believe its been a week since I last wrote here - sorry folks! Alright, let's catch up.

Last week was supposed to be my triumphant return to the last week of Turbo Jam. And then I went home sick on Monday. And Tuesday. And couldn't eat like normal until late Thursday. I'll spare you the details but needless to say, the workout plan failed to pan out. It wasn't without trying but in the end my body was telling me that I needed to knock it off and get some rest. (evidenced by the other 12 hour nap I took Tuesday night into Wednesday morning)

I'm feeling better...not quite 100% but definitely better. I have a feeling that after tackling my to-do list today and tomorrow at home (I'm at my parents' now) I'll feel less stressed and more focused. Besides all that, I have to feel better. Why? Because TURBOFIRE starts tomorrow. And besides all that, Turbo Kick training is on Sunday the 11th. One week from today! So here's the deal body...you've basically gotten two weeks off. I've slept, eaten better, done everything you've asked. Lookin' for a little return on investment this week and I promise it will be worth it!

I've been spending the weekend with my family...baseball and fireworks on Friday night, movie with my little sister yesterday, cookout last night, brunch this morning and then I'll be taking off. I've been keeping my phone nearby - keeping it charged is tough though since the poor thing struggles to find signal out here sometimes - to make sure everytime I think of something to-do over the next two days I can put it on my list. I know to some that doesn't seem like the thing to do during vacation / long weekend / holidays but I swear it helps keep me less stressed. Just because I add it to the list doesn't mean I have to do it right now. It means I take it off my mind and don't worry about remembering to get that little thing done later when I'm not spending important time with my family.

How's your holiday going? I hope you're enjoying your 4th, celebrating and having fun with family and friends!

The TurboFire starts tomorrow! Look for the schedule I'll be following (the basic plan for those who already have it!), my notes on my first workout, and general Fired up excitment all here. Are you joining me for TurboFire? Let me know!!

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow!!
